MABTON - Junior Courtney Rice spearheaded a 21-8 second quarter surge by the Sunnyside Christian JV girls basketball team, which ended with the Lady Knights taking a 64-20 decision against Mabton's junior varsity last week.
The victory boosted the JV Lady Knights' overall record on the season to 13-0.
Sunnyside Christian was clinging to an 8-6 lead after the first period, but with Rice inserted into the line-up in the second quarter the JV Lady Knights took control.

In just one quarter of play, Rice tossed in 6 points.
Andrea Schutt, Emma Newhouse and Brittany denHoed ended up as the JV Lady Knights' top scorers with 17, 16 and 12 points, respectively. Also contributing were Chelsea Jones with 7 points, Jacqui Roberts with 4 and Jenna Van Beek with 2 points.
