GRANDVIEW - The man police suspect burglarized the Grandview School District main shop on Tuesday was arrested later that morning.
The 34-year-old Grandview man was stopped within an hour of the burglary by a Yakima County Sheriff's deputy for a routine traffic stop yesterday. The suspect was arrested and is expected to be arraigned later today (Wednesday) in Yakima.
The arrest was made in the Sunnyside area.
The suspect was driving an older model Chevrolet pickup truck, which was stolen from the school district shop, at the time of his arrest. He had an estimated $2,500 to $3,000 worth of power tools and a welder in the back of the truck, according to Grandview police detectives.
Police are still investigating the case of a stolen vehicle, which was taken from the 900 block of Acoma Drive between 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, and 3 p.m. Feb. 14. The vehicle is believed to have been unlocked when it was stolen. Police have not recovered the vehicle and do not have any suspects at this time.
