Police investigate suspicious S'side fire

The Sunnyside police and fire department staff are investigating a suspicious fire at 509 East Harrison Avenue that damaged a vacant apartment building Tuesday night.

The fire was reported just before 8 p.m., according to Battalion Chief Lloyd Hazzard.

The building, which is owned by John Dalrymple, sustained about $10,000 in damages. According to Hazzard, most of the damage to the building was to an attached storage area, although the fire did spread to the walls. The four apartments in the building sustained smoke damage.

Hazzard would not say where the fire was believed to have started and added that it is still under investigation.
