Sunnyside police investigating burglary, thefts

Sunnyside police officers are investigating several burglaries and thefts that were reported Tuesday and early this morning (Wednesday).

The first burglary reported Tuesday occurred in the 300 block of S. Ninth Street, according to police records. A woman called in to report that her brother-in-law's house had been broken into and several items were taken.

Additional thefts were reported at Sunnyside High School Tuesday. According to Resource Officer Jim Rivard, money and two jackets were taken, but all of the items were recovered. Two male juveniles, who are students at the school, will be charged in juvenile court for the thefts, said Rivard.

A motor vehicle theft was reported early this morning in the 100 block of Parkland Drive. According to Police Capt. Phil Schenck, a possible suspect in the auto theft has been identified. The suspect is a Spokane man who had been staying with the owners of the vehicle.
