55 ALIVE driving class Feb. 15, 17

The Sunnyside Parks and Recreation Department and the American Association of Retired Persons are offering a 55 ALIVE Safe Driving course Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 15 and 17.

The class will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. each day at the Sunnyside Senior Center (1400 Federal Way). Gil Brook will be the instructor.

The class is open to anyone 55 years of age and older. Instruction will focus on the effects age, hearing loss, physical change and medication can have on a person's driving skills and reactions. Participants must attend class both days to receive the eight-hour course certificate.

The program fee is $10, which must be paid on the first day of class. Registration is underway now (837-8660).

Licensing office closed Monday

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Sunnyside driver's licensing office will be closed Monday, Jan. 17.

The office will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 9 a.m.

Food handler’s class Jan. 19

The Daily Buzz Deli at Sunnyside's Mid-Valley Mall will host a food handler's class Wednesday, Jan. 19, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Deli Owner Patty Aguirre said the class is open to everyone in the community. There is a $10 fee to attend the class.
