Cars targeted by thieves

Several Sunnyside vehicles were reportedly targets of car prowls and thefts Wednesday.

Wednesday night just after 9 p.m. a Mabton man reported his vehicle stolen from La Playa Azul on Sunnyside's East Edison Avenue.

According to police, the 2001 Ford pickup was left parked in front of the building with a full tank of gas and the keys left in the vehicle. When the victim came out of the establishment 45 minutes later the truck was gone. Police don't have any suspects at this time. The truck has not been located.

Wednesday morning a vehicle owner reported that his car, which was parked in the 500 block of South Eighth Street, was broken into and the stereo was stolen. The total loss, including damage to the vehicle, is expected to tally $800.

Another vehicle reportedly broken into was in the 700 block of McClain Drive. The extent of the damage and what was taken has not been released.

Also reported stolen Wednesday was a go-cart that was in the 900 block of Ann Avenue. The owner last remembered seeing the small vehicle four days before.
