BICKLETON - The Bickleton High School girls basketball team just couldn't get past the Klickitat girls' press this past Friday night, losing 51-40.
Lady Pirate Anne Hess was able to score 18 points for her team and brought down 21 rebounds, but it just wasn't enough to overcome Klickitat's 31-12 first half lead. Bickleton's Corryn Raschko added 11 points to the cause.
Klickitat's girls broke the game open in the second quarter, scoring 21 points to Bickleton's 8 points, for the half time lead.
The Lady Pirates were only able to score 3 points to the Vandals' 10 points in the third quarter.
"They just out pressed us," said Bickleton Coach Tom Whitmore of the Vandals.
"Their man-to-man defense in the second half just held us down," he said.
"We did get to within 11 in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough," he added.
The Lady Pirates' Saturday night game against Glenwood was canceled due to the badweather.
Bickleton will face Tri-City Prep tomorrow (Tuesday) night, before engaging LaSalle's Lightning squad on Friday night.
