BICKLETON - It started out alright, but the Bickleton High School Pirates couldn't contain the Klickitat explosion known as J.J. Keyes this past Friday night.
The Klickitat Vandal burst across Bickleton's gym quickly, scoring 18 points in the second quarter to lead the Vandals to an league 84-58 victory.
"We started out well in the first quarter," said Bickleton Coach Ben McBride, explaining his team was down by one, at 15-14.
"But we gave up 31 points in the second quarter and we couldn't recover," McBride said.
"We just couldn't stop Keyes," he added.
Keyes recorded 39 points for the Vandals in the Friday night match-up.
Bickleton's Tyler Jensen was his team's top scorer with 21 points, and freshman Eric Hess contributed 17 points for Bickleton. Hess also had 11 rebounds.
Bickleton's league game Saturday against Glenwood was canceled due to bad weather. The Pirates (0-5,0-9) will next face Jubilee Christian High School in non-league action this Tuesday night before resuming league play against La Salle on Friday night.
