Changes made to Crewport block grant

Tuesday morning, Yakima County commissioners voted to execute an amendment to the Community Development Block Grant agreement for the Crewport water system improvement project.

The amendment extends the block grant agreement five months, from Jan. 31 to May 31, 2005. The extension will allow the county to obtain releases from the state that are needed to close out the project. The approved amendment also allows for the transfer of $50,000 from one portion of the project to another. The funds, which were first earmarked for work to the water system's side connections will now be utilized for the distribution system and reservoir.

The improvement project has included replacing the existing pump house, adding all new controls, putting in a new pump, creating a back-up well and replacing all of the water lines in the system.
