Juveniles rob, beat Outlook resident

OUTLOOK - A 65-year-old Outlook resident was robbed and beaten yesterday (Wednesday) by a group of juveniles.

According to the Yakima County Sheriff's Department, several suspects entered the business of the Outlook resident, which also serves as his home, in the 300 block of South Lester Road.

The suspects hit the man in the head with an unknown object. Once the victim was on the floor, the suspects continued to beat him, said Chief David Thompson of the Yakima County Sheriff's Department.

The suspects stole several handguns from the business and left the area in a red Honda. Thompson said a witness wrote down the license plate number of the Honda. The tip from the witness led to the arrest of the suspects in the 3100 block of East Edison Avenue in Sunnyside.

The victim was transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital and later released, after being treated for injuries to his head.

In all, the sheriff's department took four juvenile suspects into custody and transported them to the Sunnyside jail.

Taken into custody in connection with the incident yesterday were two 16-year-old males from Sunnyside. A 17-year-old male from Sunnyside was also arrested. Officers arrested another 16-year-old male with addresses in Grandview and Yakima, said Thompson.

Thompson said his detectives have been in contact with an attorney for another suspect, a 17-year-old male from Sunnyside, who is expected to turn himself over to officials today (Thursday).

Thompson said the suspects face charges of robbery and assault.
