BICKLETON - Led by Annie Hess, the Bickleton High School girls basketball team swept past the Yakama Tribal Eagles, 43-35 this past Tuesday night.
Hess led her team in scoring with 17 points, while grabbing 16 rebounds to add to the team's victory.
The Lady Pirates jumped out to an early lead with a 15-0 advantage in the first quarter, going into halftime up by a score of 28-12.
The Eagles weren't able to rebound from the large deficit, adding only 23 points to their score in the second half.
"Our defense was great," said Bickleton Coach Tom Whitmore. In the first and third quarters, we only allowed them one point total," he said.
Bickleton's Corryn Raschko added 10 points to her team's score and grabbed four rebounds. Also claiming rebounds were Kirstin Slater, Senia Macias and Stephanie Tucker with four rebounds each.
Macias had nine steals with Hess making four steals, while teammates Mollie Pearson and Corryn and Danielle Raschko robbing the Eagles of three balls each.
Whitmore said Tuesday's game gave him an opportunity to try players in different places before the Lady Pirates face Glenwood tonight (Thursday).
Bickleton will travel to Glenwood for the make-up game, which earlier had been canceled due to bad weather conditions.
