Ruby Adams, 92, of Benton City and a former resident of Sunnyside and Grandview died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.

She was born Oct. 1, 1912 to Ruben and Hasnel (Van De Venter) Edens. On April 4, 1929 she married Samuel F. Adams in Yellville, Ark. In 1948 they moved to Washington state, making their home in Sunnyside. In 1959 they moved to Grandview. She moved to Benton City in 1991, where she continued to make her home until the time of her death.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy V. Smith of Benton City; two sons, Roy Adams of Wenatchee and Orville L. Adams of Yuma, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Neal Edens of Washington, Sam Edens of Florida, Amos Edens of Arizona and Kline Edens of Arkansas; and three sisters, Cathy Morrow of Arkansas, and Martha Collins and Birdie Smith, both of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel F. Adams in 1989; and two brothers, Thurman Edens and Manard Edens.

Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, from 9 a.m. until time of time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Grandview. Burial will follow at East Prosser Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
