Public input on privatizing public works will be taken in February

In response to a concern from local businessman Pete Sartin, the Sunnyside City Council confirmed this past Monday night that it will be taking public input at two coming meetings concerning privatization of the public works department.

Council will be holding a special work session on Tuesday, Feb. 22, in chambers at the Sunnyside Law and Justice Center. The meeting, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., will be used to discuss privatizing the operations of the public works department, along with an annexation matter. There will be a period at the meeting for the public to provide input.

Council will also be accepting public input at its regular meeting on Monday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. Council is expected to make some sort of decision regarding the privatization issue at that time.
