YAKIMA - Thursday afternoon, three Sunnyside swimmers clocked times fast enough against the West Valley team to secure spots at Districts scheduled for next weekend.

Freshman Anthony Kim clocked District qualifying times in both the 100-freestyle and the 200-individual medley, according to Coach Carl Scott.

Kim placed second in the 100-freestyle, clocking a time of 55.61. In the medley relay he placed third with a clocking of 2:31.28.

Sophomore David Knee clocked a time of 2:37.39 in the 200-freestyle for a fourth place finish, which was fast enough for a spot at Districts, said Scott.

Also placing fourth in his event was Alexander Henry, who clocked a time of 1:24.73 in the 100-breaststroke. Henry placed fifth in the 200-freestyle with a clocking of 2:37.73, a District qualifying time.

Zile Wagner also swam in the 200-freestyle. He clocked a sixth place finish in a time of 2:50.42.

The four Sunnyside swimmers also competed in two distance relays.

The swimmers placed second in the 200-freestyle relay, clocking a time of 1:57.91, and were third in the 400-freestyle relay. According to Scott, they finished the relay with a time of 4:34.66.

"All the guys did really well at this meet," said Scott.

Although most of the boys have earned District times, he said the entire team should be able to compete at Districts, which are to be held in Ellensburg.
