Police believe elderly woman's death result of domestic dispute

A 73-year-old Mt. Vernon woman found dead at a Sunnyside motel Sunday night may have been romantically linked to her killer.

According to reports from Skagit County law enforcement officials, the victim, identified as Idise Irene Holland, and the suspect, Rene Ramos, 22, had a history of domestic disputes.

"We've learned that Ramos has since contacted Holland's family members confessing to stabbing her," said Sunnyside Deputy Police Chief Phil Schenck.

Holland was found dead late Sunday night at a motel in the 700 block of Yakima Valley Highway, in a room she and the suspect were reportedly sharing.

Schenck said it is believed Ramos may be traveling with his 7-year-old daughter and his girlfriend, Abigail "Abby" Alvarez, 19, of 610 Grandridge Apt. B2, Grandview.

"We are seeking information about Alvarez as a person of interest in this case," Schenck said.

The couple is believed to be traveling in Alvarez's vehicle, a white 1995 Pontiac GrandAm, with license plate numbers 647THI.

Ramos is described as a 5'5", 130 lb. Hispanic male with brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone with information regarding Ramos' or Alvarez's whereabouts is asked to call the Sunnyside police at 837-2120.
