Aug. 29 trial date of murder suspect

Aug. 29 is the trial date for the 32-year-old man charged with the murder of a Mt. Vernon woman in a Sunnyside motel on Sunday, July 3.

Rene Joseph Ramos was arraigned in Yakima County Superior Court Tuesday on second degree murder charges before Judge Michael Schwab.

Ramos, who surrendered himself to Sunnyside police authorities last Thursday, is charged with the stabbing death of Idise Irene Holland, 73, of Mt. Vernon.

Schwab continued the $1 million bail on Ramos and set Aug. 19 as the date for Ramos' pre-trial hearing.

The case is expected to go to trial on Aug. 29, according to the Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney's office.
