Personal checks no longer good when purchasing marriage licenses

Too many bad checks from people purchasing their marriage licenses has prompted the Yakima County auditor's office to change its procedures.

Due to the number of checks that have bounced because of non-sufficient funds, the auditor's office will only be accepting cash or money orders for all marriage licenses and other marriage related transactions, beginning Aug. 1.

$500 reward offered for killer of show horse

Anyone with information that leads to the conviction of the person who shot and killed the horse, trained in the art of Charro dancing, last Wednesday evening on the outskirts of Sunnyside is being offered a $500 reward.

Owned by the Jesus Valencia family, the horse was tethered to a pole at the family home when it was shot and killed for no apparent reason.

Those with information about the crime are asked to call either Jesus Valencia (509-391-1122) or Brian Bosma (509-391-1111).
