Sunnyside police respond to rash of thefts

Sunnyside police were kept busy Tuesday answering citizens' reports of thefts involving everything from lawnmowers to debit cards.

Police officers are investigating a burglary at Hillcrest Manor on Otis Avenue in which two lawnmowers and a weed trimmer were taken sometime Monday night.

In addition, officers are seeking information pertaining to reports of slashed tires and broken windows in vehicles in the area of South 11th Street, which were also reported Tuesday.

A report of a car being broken into in the 1200 block of South Sixth Street included the loss of a stereo, two speakers, camping equipment, as well as paintball gun equipment.

A report of a Department of Social and Health Services debit card being stolen from the 1100 block of Roosevelt Court and a cell phone from the 1200 block of Vista Avenue were also reported to the Sunnyside Police Department Tuesday.

Two drive-offs involving gasoline thefts were reported from the 1800 block of Waneta Road Tuesday afternoon.

The police also received a report involving the theft of two mountain and two dirt bikes from the 500 block of Franklin Court.
