ELLIS EDWARD ROBERTSON

1912-2005

He was born Sept. 16, 1912 in Fort Payne, Ala. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie, of 55 years and a daughter, Joyce; two sisters, Bertha and Irene; three brothers, Curt, Douglas and Bill; and parents, John and Ethel Robertson. He passed away at the home of his son, Garry Robertson, in Renton

on June 18, 2005.

Ellis and Nellie came to Grandview about 1943 and first farmed on Hornby Road.

He later worked at the Hanford Project and then went into business for himself. He became the owner and manager of Robertson Construction. During the following years his company was extremely successful, building between 120 and 130 homes in the Grandview area, some on Robertson Road which was named in honor of him and his work. They also built the Yakima Valley Clinic at the corner of Davidson and Third Streets, and the Two Fountains Apartments on Euclid St. The company also built the Plaza Apartments in Prosser.

Retiring from construction business, Mr. and Mrs. Robertson moved to the coast and managed a motel at Long Beach. They returned to Grandview and built their home near the new high school.

He is survived by his two brothers, Clyde Robertson of Grandview and Leo Robertson of Rogue River, Ore.

The couple were the parents of five children, Charles Robertson of London England, Paul Robertson of Tacoma, Janice Brumfield of Norfolk, Va., Garry Robertson of Renton and Larry Robertson of San Leandro, Calif. There are also numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at The Nazarene Church at 500 Elm St., Grandview, on Friday June 24, 2005, at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the family plot at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside. Services will be held under the direction of Garry and Larry Robertson.
