State health department issues charges, penalties
The Washington State Department of Health has taken
disciplinary action against several health care providers in Yakima County.
In April 2005, the state revoked the certification of
nursing assistant Shannon Marie Breding for 10 years. State officials said she
was convicted of fourth degree assault for abusing two foster children. Also in
April, the state indefinitely suspended the certification of nursing assistant
Liza Nelson, on charges of diverting a controlled substance from a patient.
Two Yakima County health care providers were notified by the
state in May 2005 that they face disciplinary action. Nursing assistants Elise
A. Martinez and Daisy Lee Medina have been charged with unprofessional conduct
for allegedly using methamphetamine.
Also in May 2005, the state denied the application of Lisa
M. Tedder to practice as a nursing assistant in Yakima County. State officials
said Tedder has several criminal convictions, including assault, theft and
possession of stolen property.
