A regional blood supply shortage, coupled with the fact that early summer is always a slow time of year for blood donations, is prompting American Red Cross officials to encourage a big turnout for tomorrow's blood drawing in Sunnyside.
Sunnyside blood drawing chairman Marie Handy said the Tuesday, June 28, blood drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, located at Ninth Street and Edison Avenue. The drawing is being sponsored by the Yakima Valley Dairy Women.
Those 17 years of age and older, who are in good health, are eligible to donate blood. Walk-in donors are gladly accepted, although appointments can be made to give blood by calling 1-800-448-3543.
"We'd like as many people as possible to turn out on Tuesday," said Handy. "The blood they give will end up saving other people's lives."
