Woman kidnapped from Grandview diner last week

GRANDVIEW - A Grandview woman was kidnapped from her place of employment last Thursday evening, according to Grandview police officials.

The woman was working at a restaurant in the 200 block of W. Second Street in Grandview when a Sunnyside man entered the diner and attempted to speak to her just before 9 p.m. Police believe the two knew each other.

The 26-year-old woman reportedly asked the man to leave repeatedly before he finally left.

About an hour later he returned to speak to the woman and after repeated attempts to speak with her, he physically removed her from the business, said Grandview officials. The woman was placed in a vehicle and taken from the restaurant.

Grandview officers were unable to locate the vehicle in question, but did broadcast the report to other agencies. Shortly after 11 p.m. a Mabton police officer saw the vehicle and stopped the driver.

The suspect was arrested and has since been transported to Yakima County Jail. He is being charged with unlawful imprisonment.

The woman was also in the car. Police said she was unharmed. They added there was no weapon displayed during the incident.
