Sunnyside teen caught with marijuana cache

A 19-year-old Sunnyside man was arrested early Wednesday morning when Sunnyside Police Department detectives executed a search warrant at his home in the 400 block of W. Madison Avenue.

Detectives have been working on the case since concerned citizens reported that drugs were being sold from the location.

Police found a large quantity of marijuana, more than 85 grams, at the home located in the Carnation district, as well as digital scales, cash and packaging materials, according to Det. Jim Orth.

The 19-year-old was arrested and is being charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

Orth said that detectives believe the teen they have in custody was learning the business from someone else. He added that more arrests are expected.

The suspect was sent to Yakima County Jail this morning. It is expected he will be charged in Yakima County Superior Court with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
