The Sunnyside City Council granted excused absences to Councilwoman Bengie Aguilar and Councilman Don Vlieger during Monday night's meeting.
Aguilar and Vlieger were not able to attend the meeting because of out-of-town commitments.
Items for March 28 meeting discussed
The Sunnyside City Council will be accepting public comment on the Lemos/Burns annexation proposal.
Council addressed the annexation issue of the two properties at its last meeting in February. The annexation of the two properties is part of a proposal by the Diocese of Yakima to build a 51-unit rental complex in that area.
Sunnyside City Manager Bob Stockwell explained that the issue will be before the Council in a public hearing format March 28 because it was discovered the city didn't inform the property owners east of the proposed annexation site about the public hearing in February.
Also at the March 28 meeting, Council will discuss refinancing of water and sewer bonds and the renewal of five liquor licenses. Council will also hold a public hearing on the emergency sign moratorium that has been in place.
