The trio of Ty Schatz, Joe Herber and Terry Drollinger bested the field in the men's club opening competition of the season this past Sunday at Black Rock Creek Golf Course.
The threesome carded a 9-under 63 in the scramble format.
Two strokes off the winning pace, with a 65 to claim runner-up honors, was the foursome of Larry Kliendgard, Edsel Olson, Rick Mitoff and Mel Herigstad.
There was a two-way tie for third. Shooting identical 66's were the teams of Bob Hall, Len Walker and Tom Tudor; and Perry Uchida, Dana Carr and Bernie Schutt.
Sharing fourth place honors, with 67's, were the squads of Eddie Joe Risk, Keith Sattler and Doc Storslee; and Gene McIntire, Dan Clark and Chuck Stegeman.
In the net scoring column (actual score minus handicap), the trios of Jim Reid-Ron Kroger-Ken Herber and Randy Boast-Ken Ott-Mike Stegeman posted the low rounds on the day-identical 47.69's. Third place honors in the net competition, with a score of 48.02, went to the threesome of Jon Bright, Steward Rogers and Cliff Lewis.
Flag event prize winners included Uchida for KP honors on No. 12 and longest drive on No. 13, Dr. Richard Kirk for KP honors on No. 9 and Ott for KP honors on No. 17.
