Granger police arrest 20-year-old in connection with five church burglaries

Granger police arrested a 20-year-old man yesterday (Wednesday) in connection with five burglaries that occurred Monday and Tuesday at several local churches.

According to the Granger Police Department, between Monday, March 14, and Tuesday, March 15, four burglaries occurred in the City of Granger and one in the county on Liberty Road, just outside of Granger. The burglaries all took place at different churches in the community. Stolen were sound mixing boards and speakers.

Granger police investigators were able to develop information that led to the arrest of the 20-year-old Granger man, and ultimately to the recovery of nearly all of the items stolen in the burglaries.

According to Granger police, the suspect was booked into the Sunnyside jail and is facing charges of four counts of first degree malicious mischief, four counts of first degree theft and one count of trafficking stolen property.

Granger police note that they will forward information on the suspect to the Yakima County Sheriff's Office for the filing of charges on the burglaries that occurred in the county.
