14-year-old girl remains missing

A Sunnyside High School freshman, 14-year-old Mariale Osorio, is still missing. It's been nine days since her mother, Justina Solona of Sunnyside, has seen her daughter.

This morning (Friday), Solona reported that she has still not received word from Osorio or received any information on her whereabouts from anyone in the community.

Solona said she suspects her daughter, who ran away from home for five days last month to spend time with her 17-year-old boyfriend from Mabton, may be with the teen again.

Solona said she is concerned about her daughter, noting that she is only 14-years-old and being a freshman, she is missing a lot of school.

Solona first knew her daughter was missing when she checked her bedroom at 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, at the family's home on East Madison Avenue. No family member has seen the girl since.

Solona said she has been working to try to find her missing child, explaining that she has been asking around and spending time driving around to see if she can spot the young girl. She added that she has also contacted the police.

In addition to all of those efforts, Solona said she is trying to find a lawyer who will help her bring the 17-year-old boyfriend to court.

Solona asks that if anyone spots her missing daughter that they call her at 830-6544 or contact the Yakima County Sheriff's Office at (509) 575-2500.
