Board to hold June retreat

The Sunnyside School Board agreed Thursday night that it would hold a board retreat the weekend of June 17-18.

The only problem for the board is that its members aren't quite sure where it is going to be at. The board did decide that it would like to hold the meeting out of town, but only about an hour or so drive away.

Sunnyside School District Superintendent Dr. Rick Cole said he would get back to the board on where the retreat will be.

At the retreat, one of the items before the board will be hearing from a representative of the state's school directors association about board showmanship.

Board makes change to 2005-06 school calendar

The Sunnyside School Board approved a minor change to the 2005-06 district calendar.

The change is to assist the high school in better managing the five days graduating seniors are not required to be in school at the end of the school year.

The old calendar had the district with an in-service day on Friday, May 5, 2006. The in-service day has now been changed to Monday, June 12, 2006.

Students in the Sunnyside School District will now be attending classes on May 5.

The 2005-06 school year is scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 29, with the last day of school being Friday, June 9, 2006.
