Cecilia Lorraine (Roy) Oppegard, 74, of Toppenish was with her girls when she passed away peacefully in her home after a courageous battle with lung cancer, Friday, March 25, 2005, in Toppenish.

Cecilia was born Jan. 31, 1931 in Wapato to Henri and Marion Roy. She grew up in Wapato until moving to Sunnyside, where she graduated from Sunnyside High School. After graduation she enlisted in the Navy.

She later returned to Washington to raise her four girls, Pamela, who is married to David Myers and lives in Toppenish; Patricia, who lives in Kennewick; Joy, who is married to David Ness and lives in Portland, Ore.; and Terrie, who is married to Doug Carothers and lives in Hillsboro, Ore.

Cecilia always loved spending time with her girls and her family. She also loved playing bingo, attending family gatherings and taking annual trips with her girls.

She will be truly missed by all who loved her.

Cecilia is survived by her four daughters; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; three sisters, Janet Fallert, Rose Marie Konzek, Mary Lou Biegler; and two brothers, Roland Roy and James Roy.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sister,

Theresa Stahlhut; and three brothers, Clement Roy, Paul Roy and Roger Roy.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 28, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Graveside services will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. There will be a reception held for friends and family at the home of David and Pam Myers, 5 Washington Ave. #D, (above the 88 Cents Store), Toppenish. Special thanks to Lower Valley Hospice for its caring staff. Memorials may be made to Lower Valley Hospice. Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, was in charge of arrangements.
