Dan Esparza, 85, of Grandview died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Orchard House in Grandview.

He was born Feb. 29, 1920 in Gering, Neb. to Cruz and Josepha (Castañeda) Esparza. On Dec. 6, 1940 he married Caroline Schaefer. He served in U.S. Army from 1941 to 1943.

He is survived by two sons, Eddie Esparza and wife, Maria, of Rochester and Alan Esparza and wife, Lupe, of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Martha Alvarado and husband, Antonio, of

Mabton and Sandra Esparza of Federal Way; 10 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren; one brother, Benny Esparza; and three sisters, Concha Ramirez, Stella Leon and Frances Dunquez.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Caroline; two daughters, Linda and Susan; two brothers, Paul and Cruz; and two sisters, Jennie and Celia.

Viewing and visitation will be held Monday, May 9, 2005, from 1 to 8 p.m. with a military service to be held at 2 p.m. and a Rosary to be recited at 5 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Inurnment will be held at a later date at East Prosser Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


William “Bill” McIntosh, 73, of Sunnyside died Tuesday, May 4, 2005, at his home with his family.

He was born Aug. 15, 1931 in Sunnyside to William and Cora McIntosh. He married Genevieve Bowles on July 16, 1955. They had been married almost 50 years. He farmed for the most part of his life, he also enjoyed carpentry. He worked as an operating engineer at Hanford.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve McIntosh of Sunnyside; two sons, Larry McIntosh of Goldendale and Ronald McIntosh of Union, Ore.; one daughter, Lori Dreyer of Union; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a sister, Mary Perry of Sunnyside.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; a brother, Robert McIntosh; two sisters, Frances Day and Correon Boyd; and two daughters, Kathy Lynn and Connie Hauver.

Viewing for Bill will be held Friday, May 6, 2005, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel and Sunday, May 8, 2005, from noon to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel, Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside. Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside, is in charge of arrangements.
