Plata, Puente cash at PGA pro-am

WEST VALLEY - Miles Plata of Prosser and Miguel Puente of Sunnyside were the only Black Rock Creek Golf Course team members to cash at this past Monday's Central Washington chapter of the PGA pro-am event.

A total of 213 professional and amateur golfers competed in the one-day tourney, staged at Apple Tree Golf Course.

Plata carded a 14-over-par 86 to earn a tie for third place honors in amateur division #3. The low round in that flight was a 3-over 75, claimed by Mark Easely of Pendleton, Ore.

Puente earned a tie for runner-up honors in the net scoring column (actual score minus handicap) of amateur division #3. He shot a handicap-aided 67. The low net round in flight #3 was a 65, shot by Gayle Pinkston of Three Lakes Golf Course.

The low professional round fired on Monday was a 5-under 67 by Lakeview Golf & Country Club pro Mike Schoner.

The low amateur round was a 4-under 68, snared by Ellensburg's Dan Whitaker, who was representing Toppenish's Mt. Adams Country Club.
