East Valley sweeps

GRANDVIEW - The Grandview tennis teams lost to Valley powerhouse East Valley Saturday. The score wasn't close as the East Valley girls won 5-0 and the Red Devils' boys team defeated the Hounds 4-1.

Playing at No. 1 singles, Grandview's Marco Diaz had the only win of the day for the 'Hounds, narrowly defeating Scott LaBree 6-4, 6-3. Grandview's top player, Kevin Floyd, didn't compete in the match.

Grandview No. 2 doubles player Nick Saldana lost to Eric Nelson 6-0, 6-0.

Also losing were Grandview doubles players Zack Poteet and Paulino Fajardo, who lost to Nick Durand and Jake Gefre 6-4, 6-2.

East Valley's No. 2 doubles players Coalby Valicoff and T.J. Hull came out on top over Chase Lindsley and Raymond Cantu, winning both sets 6-2, 6-4.

East Valley duo Max Kabrich and Jaren Franks won the No. 3 doubles match by default.

Lady Hounds No. 3 doubles players Allison Grow and Noelle Miller held their own, but ultimately lost to Jennette Zarate and Katie Wilson 7-6 (7-3), 6-0.

Also making a run on East Valley were No. 2 doubles players Bianca Rodriguez and Kyla Lyendekker. The duo lost the first set 6-4 and the second set 7-5.

Grandview's No. 1 doubles players Danika Martinez and Miranda Shreeve lost to Karen Martin and Lynea Couples 6-4, 6-3.

East Valley's No. 1 singles player Casie Snyder had an easy win over Christina Mesa, winning 6-2, 6-1. Also winning was East Valley's Amanda Eglin over Lady Hound Christine Penwell. Eglin won 6-1, 6-1.
