Jolliff ninth in pole vault at Kirkland meet

KIRKLAND - Cassie Jolliff had the best finish of the five Sunnyside High School girls who competed Saturday at the Lake Washington Track & Field Invitational in Kirkland.

Jolliff cleared the pole vault bar at nine feet-even for a ninth place finish. To score team points at the invite an athlete needed a top eight placing.

"Cassie is getting real close to hitting 9 feet, 6 inches," said Sunnyside Coach Robin Bryson. "Once she gets a couple of little things worked out, she should get there."

Bryson said the four other Lady Grizzly tracksters who competed in Kirkland this past Saturday earned middle of the field placings at the 67-school invite.

They included Jordyne Jaquish (long jump and high jump), Claire Schilperoort (discus), Carly Dahlstrom (shotput) and Fatima Ruelas (long jump and 400).

The Sunnyside girls team is scheduled to close out Mid-Valley League competition this coming Thursday at a three-team meet in Selah. Wapato will also be on hand.
