Clean-up Saturday

For Sunnyside residents, getting rid of trash and garbage couldn't be easier, and it's free.

This Saturday, May 14, Sunnyside will be hosting its 14th annual Spring Clean-up Day. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with two drop- off locations in town.

According to Property Maintenance Facilitator Bill Eikenbary, disposal locations will be on Fifth Street next to the city pool and at the Chief Kamiakin bus driveway near the corner of 16th Street and Lincoln Avenue.

Residents of the community will be able to drop off yard waste, trash and other unwanted items at either location.

Items that won't be accepted include tires, vehicle batteries, automotive parts, appliances and hazardous waste such as chemicals, oils, solvents and paints.

No commercial loads will be allowed and, Eikenbary said, the service is only for city residents. Residential verification will be checked at each of the drop-off points.
