Workshop to be held on small business loans

The RCDR small business lending program, operated by Luz Bazan Gutierrez, will be holding a workshop in Sunnyside to help people who are looking for help with small business loans.

The RCDR program is offering a $5,000 pronto loan, which is designed to assist new and emerging businesses that need quick financial assistance.

There will be a workshop on the program in Sunnyside Wednesday, May 25, at the WorkSource offices. One of the workshops will be conducted at 5 p.m. with another completed in Spanish at 6 p.m.

Workshops on the program will also be held in Yakima on Monday, May 23, at 24 South Third Ave., beginning at 5 p.m.

Mabton school directors call special meeting

MABTON - This Friday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m. the Mabton School Board will hold a special meeting at Mabton Jr./Sr. High School.

The purpose of the meeting will be to review issues brought by community members and to provide information regarding those concerns.

Miss Majesty Pageant coming to Sunnyside

The Lower Valley Miss Majesty Pageant is set to take place Saturday, June 4, at the St. Joseph's gymnasium in Sunnyside.

The pageant is open to boys and girls up to 20 years of age. There are nine different age divisions for participants. The entry fee for the pageant is $65 for the supreme package, which includes participation in the evening gown, freestyle, spokes model, talent, photogenic and other competitions. A $35 entry fee is available to those who want to participate in the age division package, which includes taking part in the evening gown, freestyle and spokes model competitions.

Those taking part in the pageant will have the chance to win awards ranging from being crowned Royal Grant Supreme Miss Majesty and receiving a 10-inch tiara, sash, trophy and a gift to winning the prince and princess awards, which include receiving a crown and sash.

Those who register before Saturday, May 28, will be able to save $10 off the cost of the entry fee. For more information about the pageant contact Marlee Ziegler at 837-8848.
