Paul Eaugean Carr, 54, of Richmond, Calif. and a former Prosser resident, died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at his home.

He was born May 22, 1950 in Prosser to William and Mona Carr.

He is survived by his sisters, Monita Carr of Prosser, Sharon Carr of Honolulu, Hawaii and Mary Bowerman of Richmond, Calif.; three brothers, John Carr of Grand Round, Ore., Dale Carr of Los Angeles, Calif. and Jerry Carr of La Grand, Ore.; one son, Jessy Carr of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Corrina Carr of Vancouver; and fiancée, Carla Depinato of Richmond.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

No services will be held. A wake will be held Sunday, May 22, 2005, at 4:30 p.m. at his home in Richmond. Nautilus Society, Oakland, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.


Arletta Whiting, 90, of Sunnyside died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Hillcrest Manor in Sunnyside.

She was born Oct. 16, 1914 in Volga, S.D. to Robert and Verna (Tempte) Ware. They later moved to Grandview in 1919. On Oct. 27, 1940, she married Gordon Whiting in Grandview. In 1943 the Whiting family moved to Prosser, where she worked as a bookkeeper.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Allen and husband, Ken, of Sunnyside; one son, Kenneth Whiting and wife, Kathy, of Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Don Ware and wife, Betty, of Grandview. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Harriet; and one brother, Frank Ware.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 20, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Grandview Cemetery, Grandview. Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.


Eva Uribe Acosta, 69, of Mabton passed away Monday, May 16, 2005 into the arms of the Lord.

She was born Dec. 28, 1935 in Goliad, Texas to Segundo and Marcelina (Huerta) Uribe. On May 7, 1951 she married Gabriel Acosta in Billings, Mont. Together they made their home in the Lower Valley.

She will always be remembered as a caring and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and mother-in-law.

Eva attended many church services at El Buen Pastor in Sunnyside.

Eva is survived by her husband, Gabriel Acosta; two sons, Rudy Acosta and wife, Lupe, of Spokane and Juan Acosta and wife, Eugenia, of Grandview; two daughters, Beatrice Cardenas and husband, Sam, of Sunnyside and Mary Cardenas and husband, Joe, of Sunnyside; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Trinidad Uribe and Jose Uribe of Ontario, Ore.; and one sister, Maria Cedillo of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Vicente Uribe, Feliz Uribe, Juan Uribe and Felimon Uribe.

Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the Iglesia Evangelica Fortaleza De Sion, Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
