Helpers sought to build deck at home of Steve Evans Saturday

Sunnyside police officer Oliver Hernandez is looking for volunteers to help build a deck at the home of former Sunnyside Police Sgt. Steve Evans, who died while hunting last fall.

"Before he died, he drew up the plans to build a deck," said Hernandez.

The plans, which have been approved by the Sunnyside Building Division, have been laying by the wayside until now.

Hernandez said that anyone who would like to help build a deck at the Evan's family home, 515 Dayton, should arrive at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 21.

He suggests those wanting to help to bring tools, such as cordless drills, hammers and tape measures.
