Stevens Pass gets its first snowfall

Stevens Pass Winter Resort received its first measurable and significant snowfall of the season on Halloween morning, Oct. 31.

More than six inches of snow blanketed the base area between Sunday evening and Monday morning, with more than eight inches at the summit.

"This recent snowfall is a great addition to the excitement and positive energy around the resort," said John Gifford, general manager at Stevens Pass. "Each snowflake that drifts from the heavens means that we are much closer to opening for the 2005-06 season."

Stevens will open lifts, terrain and extend hours as conditions permit. For up-to-date information, visitors can call the pass snowline in Wenatchee at 509-782-5516 or visit online at
