Tom's car store donates car for hospital raffle

Tom's Car Store in Sunnyside has announced its support for the American Cancer Society 2006 Relay for Life with the donation of a car to be raffled for the cause.

Owner Tom Johnston is donating a 1998 Ford Contour, with an estimated retail value of $4,500. The car is going to the Rebels with a Cause Relay for Life team, which will begin selling raffle tickets immediately.

The car will be given away at the relay May 21, 2006 in Grandview.

"We are very excited by the donation from Tom's Cars" said Coleen Goulet, team captain. "Every member of the hospital team has been touched by cancer in some way, and we believe this donation will help us all to give back something to the Cancer Society."

Johnston said he was glad to help the relay for life.

"We opened our store to help people find affordable cars in the valley," said Johnston. "We know how much the relay has helped people in the Lower Valley and we are very happy to be joining in the effort."

The team hopes to sell more than 5,000 tickets.
