Grandview store owner jailed on drug charges

GRANDVIEW - The owner of the Tienda Mi Morenita store at 1401 Wine Country Road in Grandview was sentenced yesterday, Nov. 7, to 55 months in prison for drug charges after pleading guilty in Yakima County Superior Court.

Amado Roberto Martinez co-owned the store with wife Guadalupe Gutierrez Martinez and both were arrested last May following a raid. Last month she was sentenced to 44 months in prison.

Amado Martinez pled guilty to four of 18 charges brought against him, including delivery of marijuana, maintaining a drug dwelling and possession of marijuana.

The store had been the site of methamphetimine and marijuana sales, prosecutors learned following an undercover operation.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Gary Hintze said a law enforcement task force first learned of the drug activity back in 2003 following phone calls from citizens.

Hintze said other cases related to the Grandview store are still pending. He also provided a toll-free drug hotline that citizens can call if they see suspicious drug activity, 1-800-882-1119.
