Sunnyside High School's Rachelle Durfey, a junior on the school's swim team, will be heading to the 2A/3A state finals this Friday.
Durfey will be traveling to Federal Way to swim in the 50 freestyle and hopes to finish in the top 8 at the King County Aquatic Center. The top eight swimmers will compete Saturday for the state's top spot.
"I think it's going to be a very competitive meet," Sunnyside Coach Scott Southard said. "Every girl is going to have to swim fast to have a shot at Saturday."
Durfey is taking the pressure in stride. "I'm kind of nervous because this is my first year going to state," she said. "I'm planning on doing the best I can."
