Veda Leona Harrison, 93, a long-time Selah resident and a current Sunnyside resident, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005.
She was born Sept. 26, 1912 in Gravespring, Mo. to John D. and Essie M. (Carr) Kinkade. She and her family moved from Missouri to Montana, but in 1934 they relocated to Washington to settle in Mabton. She lived there with her family until 1941, when she married Harvey H. Harrison on June 1. The couple made their home together in Selah. Mrs. Harrison worked for 25 years for the Selah School District and retired in 1974.
She is survived by her son, Dale Harrison of West Virginia; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Satterfield of Sunnyside; four sisters-in-law, Iola Kinkade, Beulah Klopp, Beat Harrison and Barbara Harrison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Harrison; her parents; and two brothers, Harley and Charles Kinkade.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005 and Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, from noon till 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, and Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, from noon to 5 p.m. at Keith and Keith Funeral Home in Yakima. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. At Mrs. Harrison's request, in lieu of flowers, gifts of love may be made to the Shrines Children Hospital.
