Lady Knights fend off Sunnyside JV's

In non-league volleyball action Monday night, the Sunnyside Christian High School varsity swept the Sunnyside JV's 3-0.

The host Lady Grizzlies battled before falling 25-22 in the first game, and SCHS held on from there for 25-19 and 25-14 wins to take the match.

"We played well but we needed to step up our communication," noted SCHS Volleyball Coach Andrea Dobson.

Chelsey Jones paced the Lady Knights with a triple-double, contributing 12 kills, 12 aces and 10 digs to go with four blocks.

Tori Van Wingerten dished out 26 assists and served seven aces in the winning effort.

Dobson praised Courtney Rice, who hustled for 12 digs, six aces and three kills. "Courtney had a great defensive game and saved several balls for us."

SCHS (3-2, 11-5) travels to Bickleton today.
