TROUT LAKE - The Sunnyside Christian boys soccer team traveled to Trout Lake last night, beating the Mustangs 4-0.
The Knights had trouble with their passing in the first half as both teams remained scoreless until late in the half.
Matt Haak scored just before the half to make it 1-0.
"It took us awhile to get going," Knights Coach Russ Smies said.
The Knights got off to a good start in the second half when Michael DeGroot chipped a shot over the goalie to make it 2-0.
"It was a nice shot," Smies said. "Michael has incredible touch with his feet."
Four minutes later Jake Bosma scored with an assist from Joel Koopmans.
"Jake sees the field very well," Smies said.
Matt Haak went on to score his second goal of the game on an assist from Aaron Van de Graaf.
"We tried some different things and worked on our 2-5-3 offense," Smies said. "Ben Dekker did a good job of coordinating the defense and made sure Trout Lake didn't come back," he added.
"It was a lot of fun to play."
Tuesday's victory was Sunnyside Christian's first in Greater Columbia B League play. The Knights have a 1-2 conference mark and are 3-5-1 overall.
