Death Notices


Larry George Perrin, 70, of Prosser died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, peacefully at home.

He was born in Sunnyside. He served three years in the Army. He worked in the mines in Montana, owned his own stridder, worked for Wyerhauser Logging, was an owner/operator of his own truck, did shipping and receiving, and was a farmer who worked in his vineyard until he became ill.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Casandra O'Barr of McKinleyville, Calif.; sons, Mathew Perrin of Seattle and Gary Wright of Renton; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Grandview Christian Church in Grandview.


Petra Veliz, 75, of Grandview, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2005, at her daughter's home in Grandview.

She was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Robstown, Texas, to Guadalupe and Romanita (DeLeon) Ruelas. On Oct. 20, 1947, she married Jose Ramiro Veliz in Edinburg, Texas.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jose Ramiro Veliz; her three children, Esteban Veliz of Grandview, Mikaela Visser and husband, Fred, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Rosalinda Cavazos and husband, Tony, of Grandview; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Juan Ruelas of Seattle, and Isreal Ruelas of Sunnyside; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Guadalupe and Romana Ruelas; and two sisters, Guadalupe Garza and Arabella Ramirez.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 10, 2005.

Smith Funeral Home in Grandview was in charge of arrangements.
