GRANDVIEW - The Naches Valley High School volleyball team made a quick trip into Grandview last night. So quick, its team members barely had a chance to get loose out on the court.
That's because the host Greyhounds put the match away swiftly, winning 25-3, 25-11, 25-6. For league leading Grandview, it was the team's eighth straight 3-0 sweep of a CWAC foe in as many outings this season. While the 'Hounds improved to 8-0 in conference play, Naches slipped to 0-8.
Grandview isn't expecting as easy of a match this coming Thursday at Ki-Be. Coach John LeFever said the second place Bears (6-1), who will be seeking to avenge an earlier loss to the 'Hounds, will provide his team a tough challenge.
In defeating Naches last night, Grandview received strong play from its primary setter, junior Chante Bottineau. She tallied 22 assists with her pin-point sets. Bottineau also wad a dynamo from the service line, recording 18 service points, one of which was an ace.
Also serving well for Grandview were Katie Veloz and Kealey Johnston, a pair of sophomores. They combined for 24 service points and two aces, as well as 11 defensive digs.
The Greyhounds also got strong play at the net from the trio of Christine Penwell (6 kills, 1 block), Johnston (5 kills) and Raissa Licano (4 blocks, 2 kills).
