Lady Grizzlies swept at W. Valley

WEST VALLEY - Sunnyside's volleyball team lost in three at West Valley on Tuesday.

"All three games were close," said Coach Angel Carrizales. "We competed well."

The Lady Grizzlies hung tough in game one before falling 25-16. Carrizales said that serve/receive struggles hindered Sunnyside in a 25-14 game two loss.

That set the stage for a game three tug of war. "It was a huge battle," noted Carrizales.

With the score tied 15-15, the Rams scored six straight to go up 21-15. Sunnyside, in turn, rallied to tie the game at 22-22.

West Valley called timeout, then served out the rest of the way to take the game and match.

Christy Linde recorded a team-high six kills for Sunnyside. Claire Schilperoort knocked down five kills and two blocks for the Lady Grizzlies (1-7, 3-11) who host Ellensburg this Thursday.
