SELAH - A nearly even game for a half wasn't enough, as the Sunnyside soccer team fell 6-0 at Selah on Tuesday.
The Mid-Valley League tilt was scoreless until just three minutes before halftime when the hosts found the back of the net to go up 1-0.
"The first half was great," noted Coach Kathy Jolliff. "Things worked really well for us."
Selah made it a 2-0 advantage in the 54th minute and the Lady Grizzlies answered with a penalty kick attempt minutes later.
The one-on-one shot on goal was good, but called back because the ball was improperly placed by officials.
That, combined with a yellow card issued to a Sunnyside player, resulted in a mental letdown, noted Jolliff.
That set the stage for a flurry of goals from Selah, four in a span of 14 minutes. For the match, Sunnyside was outshot 11-6.
"The kids will spring back and come out tough against Hanford next Tuesday," Jolliff said of the Lady Grizzlies (3-6, 4-9).
