SCHS falls to LaSalle

The Sunnyside Christian High School volleyball team came close Thursday night, but was just short in a 3-0 loss at home to LaSalle.

"We always seemed to be within two or three points of them," noted Coach Andrea Dobson. "We were picking up their hits but not turning them into kills for ourselves."

The visiting Lightning took the first two games 25-18 and 25-16, respectively. SCHS battled in game three before losing a 25-22 squeaker.

"We missed key serves and were slow to react to the ball," Dobson said in assessing areas of improvement for her squad.

Highlights for the Lady Knights included 15 kills, 14 digs and five aces from Chelsey Jones. Courtney Rice recorded a team high 18 digs and Andrea Schutt paced SCHS with 16 kills. Jessica Schrotenboer hustled for 15 digs and Tori Van Wingerden handed out 25 assists.

The Lady Knights (4-5, 12-8) play the second of three consecutive home matches tonight (Friday) against Glenwood.
