ESTELLA P. RODRIGUEZ

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Estella P. Rodriguez, 72, of Sunnyside, went home to our Heavenly Father Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer at her home.

Estella was born March 21, 1933, in Buena Vista, Sabinas Hidalgo Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the daughter of Eluterio Peña and Maria Inocencia Garza. She came to the United States at an early age, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1980. Estella married Eduardo M. Rodriguez on April 13, 1958, in Concepcion, Texas. They came to Sunnyside in 1962, and have made Sunnyside their home.

Estella had worked as a school cook for the Sunnyside School District for 24 years, retiring in 1998.

She enjoyed being around her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. She was their number one fan. She enjoyed walking, gardening, and reading her Bible.

Mom had an unconditional love for all. To her it didn't matter if she just met you, she would tell you "I love you".

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Eduardo M. Rodriguez of Sunnyside; one daughter, Mary E. Gomez and husband, Fred, of Sunnyside; three sons, John E. Rodriguez and Amy Reynolds of Mabton, Ross E. Rodriguez and wife, Heather, of Sunnyside and Wally E. Rodriguez of Spokane; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a special niece, Gloria R. Mota, and family of Corpus Christi, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Lisa) Rodriguez, in 1984; her parents, Eluterio and Maria Peña; one sister, Carlotta Peña; and one brother, Juan Francisco Peña.
